AMG’s History And Purpose

AMG will assist you and your children to get where they hope to be.

AMG was established in August 1992 by Tim Gower and Julie Gower. They had decided that an after-school teaching centre was needed to help HK students bridge the gap between the Hong Kong schools’ curriculum and that of the UK Independent Schools system. AMG is the longest-running dedicated centre in HK.

AMG has been housed in Ice House Street, California Tower and now Lyndhurst Terrace, and has grown slightly across the years. However, we pride ourselves on our personal touch.

We exist to provide one-to- one and small group tuition both for local and international school students, offering preparation and invigilation for entrance to overseas schools, and preparation for locally sat international examinations such as the IGCSE, International A Levels and IB Diploma. We help with preparation for the HKDSE, and for tests set by the UK and the US systems, such as the SSAT, the IELTS, the UKiset, the ISEB Common Pre-test, the ISEE and many other paper and computer-based assessments.

Finding your way around this minefield of acronyms is hard, and a large part of what we do is to advise parents on courses of action. Where we can’t be of help, we will try to put you in touch with those that can.
