major part of AMG’s services involves the placement of pupils within overseas educational systems. A critical part of any placement into an educational establishment is the interview or interviews that take place between the school and the pupil. It is therefore crucially important that the pupil is well prepared for any interviews. However, this is one area where ordinary schooling counts little towards preparation. Very often, students can find themselves confused or unable to cope when it comes to answering even elementary questions such as, “Why have you applied to this school?” Sometimes, students may even be unaware of the purpose of the interview and may find themselves at a loss and completely unprepared when it comes to facing a panel consisting of a headmaster, house master, admissions tutor and so on. AMG regularly holds practice interviews for students who are applying to enter a new school or college.
These interviews are charged on an hourly basis and are payable in arrears. The cost is $600 per hour. No additional charges are made for report writing or general discussions with parents.
University interviews are also extremely important, and require careful preparation, both for the parochial or personal interview and for the academic interview. Please note that academic interviews are not always given, but they are very common when the student is aiming to enter a well-regarded University. Some students have a natural ability to cope with these sessions, but others find them a great strain and need help; sometimes the seemingly most confident student is the one who flunks the interview. We can provide help using mock interviews in front of either a panel of our own teachers, or an individual teacher, supported by discussions on technique and advice on self-presentation.
These interviews are charged on an hourly basis and are payable in arrears. The cost is $800 per hour for a one-to-one interview, and HK$1,200 for a panel interview. No additional charges are made for report writing or general discussions with parents.
All interviews take place in our offices in Lyndhurst Terrace, Central. The office is easily accessible both for HK Island residents and, via the nearby MTR station (Central station, exit D2), for Kowloon-based students. Our administration office is open from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and until 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Lesson timetables are arranged at the student’s convenience, subject to the constraints imposed by prior bookings. Teaching hours end at 7 p.m. on Monday to Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
